Shortcut to Bottlerocket News
> 45,000 years of wisdom in one evening—tonight!
Last week, a bride and groom emailed us their fall wedding menu, including raw oysters on the half shell and roasted rack of lamb. We had fun choosing an all French wine list: crisp Champagne, hand harvested Muscadet from craftsman Marc Ollivier and a favorite inky red from Languedoc. Bottlerocket consulted the couple briefly by phone about budget and logistics ("How many bottles will we need for 200 guests?"), then took care of the rest. Get in touch for your next party. We love doing this stuff.
Tonight! The Eclectic Salon features members of the Elder Wisdom Circle, a group of volunteer cyber-grandparents who give out free advice on the internet. On Nov. 7, join us for free wine and wisdom. Come with your own questions or pick up their new book, Guide for a Meaningful Life, compiling the best of their sage counsel. Find out why NPR, Time magazine and the BBC rave about this 21st-century success story connecting young with old. Clingy boyfriends, fanatically religious family members, people in debt...no subject is too tough for these street smart seniors.
We are very excited to announce a tremendous pre-Thanksgiving event! Please join us at Bottlerocket, in collaboration with The City Bakery, on Saturday, Nov. 17. This first-ever Thanksgiving Workshop will give you a hands-on opportunity to sample traditional dishes with many different wines. Menu includes roast heritage turkey, greenmarket veggie sides, and of course, pumpkin pie, all from The City Bakery. In addition, 3 great New York chefs, all Culinary Institute of America grads, will be on hand to answer any and all cooking questions. An afternoon of delicious bites, sips and expert advice. Free and open to all.
Bottlerocket will soon launch "Pings," a special program just for our committed customers. Pings is a separate email list that will offer allocated, unusual or delicious wines that are unlikely to ever hit our shelves. To give you a taste of what's to come, today we are offering a vertical of Chateau Montelena Cabernet Sauvignon Estate.
Check out WNYC radio's singles event this month. Bargain-priced orchestra tickets to the Metropolitan Opera's Carmen (Bizet), pre-performance mingling, hors d'oeuvres and chocolate. Wines provided by Bottlerocket will put you in the mood. Proceeds benefit this indispensable public radio station...and boost your social life.
