  • Albert Macquin's fight against phyloxera, he was one of the first to graft Bordeaux's vines onto US rootstock, gained him more notoriety than owning a Bordeaux chateau. A century long underperformer, in 1994, new manager Nicolas Thienpont hired Stephane Derenoncourt and the whole thing began to click. Practicing organic and biodynamic, they were elevated to Premier Grand Cru Classé in 2006. A must try.
