Founded in 1940 with an old-school approach to the region's native grape, Baga, Casa de Saima sold some of their crop to co-ops and with the rest, produced the sturdy, tannic long-lived wines that the Bairrada was known for. After her husband's death, winemaker Graça Maria de Silva Miranda took it 180 degrees and now produces fresh and modern wines like her extended lees contact, unfiltered Baga Bruto.
